Friday metal – Suicidal Tendencies, “You Can’t Bring Me Down”

Though probably best known for their early punk material (“Institutionalized,” “I Saw Your Mommy”), ST’s two best albums (IMO), How Will I Laugh Tomorrow… and Lights, Camera, Revolution are pretty much pure thrash metal. This clip is from the latter.

It’s not entirely clear from the video why the authorities are cracking down on ST. We can only assume it’s because they rock that hard.

p.s. Bassist Robert Trujillo is, of course, now in Metallica.

  1. I don’t know, I like that early punk stuff a lot!

It wasn’t long ago that my 8th grade son was listening to songs from the Join the Army record, and I laughed since I had that record (when they were still records) when I was in middle school too.

    Thanks for this!

  2. Far be it from me to diss the early ST stuff (though I think ST is a better album than Join the Army), but the two more “metal” albums were an integral part of the soundtrack to my life when I was about 15.

Also, fwiw, the first Infectious Grooves album (ST funk-metal side project) was pretty darn good too.

  3. The man is coming down on ST because of how terrible the “Waking the Dead” video is.
