Lutherans to repeat Anglican follies?

Oh great. Is the Lutheran World Federation about to go the way of the Anglican Communion?

In my experience, Lutherans are less keen on centralized ecclesiology than (some) Anglicans, so maybe we can avoid an analogous meltdown and keep cooperating, like with the good work of Lutheran World Relief, under the loose confederation that seems to have served us well.

One response to “Lutherans to repeat Anglican follies?”

  1. God, no, please… We would be much better off at this point if we were more “federal” as the tendencies toward overidentification and fusion in the AC are showing the underside of via media.

The LWF would be wise to note the currents of the AC before going anywhere near such proposals.

Of course, I’m saying this out of some personal interest. If the AC continues on the march “Romeward” ecclesiologically at it’s current speed, the ELCA may very well be where I end up.
