Richardson – the green candidate?

Bill Richardson’s energy plan gets a green thumbs up from the environmental site Grist:

As of today, Bill Richardson has become the boldest, most visionary Democratic presidential candidate on climate and energy policy.

Is Richardson the dark horse candidate here? Will Obama and Hillary fatigue have Democratic primary voters looking for an alternative early next year? He’s talked the most sense on Iraq, plus he’s got those hilarious ads:

  1. Bill Richardson is the most qualified candidate to be president. It’s too bad he is only polling around the margin of error. He denies this, but I think he is positioning himself for the VP slot. Aside for his experience in energy and negotiations bolstering a candidate will little to no experience in either (Obama, Edwards, etc), he would certainly delivery New Mexico, and may put Arizona in play, and help out in Florida.

  2. Actually, Dan, it seems the Governor is beginning to gain some traction. a Zogby New Hampshire poll released yesterday has him jumping 8 points from April to 10% (3 behind Edwards): http://zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1302 and in Iowa he’s climbing up steadily at 7%: http://politicalwire.com/archives/2007/05/18/tight_races_in_iowa.html . It seems the more he breaks through the media exposure of the top three with substantive solutions to help move our country forward; the more people here, the more they are seeming to like. With steady movement like this heading into January, I wouldn’t count him out!

  3. Fantastic! He should be polling higher.
