A Thinking Reed

Readers may have noticed that this blog is now running on Blogger’s new beta version. While it does have some nifty new features there also appear to be some issues with comments. Switching to beta requires using a Google account, and it seems that if you’re still on an old Blogger account you may have trouble posting comments to a blog running on beta. Relatedly, since I’m now using a beta account, I can’t use my Blogger account to post comments on blogs that haven’t switched.

Anyway, the upshot is that if you’re using an old Blogger account to post comments you may experience some difficulty. But, if so, you should still be able to post comments using the “anonymous” or “other” options.

Sorry for any inconvenience!

Update: Blogger is saying this shouldn’t be an issue. Let me know if you’re having trouble posting comments using a Blogger account.

Update 2 (9/8): It seems that commenters with Blogger accounts have been able to log in and comment successfully. Hopefully we won’t have any more problems.

  1. This is Clint. I just tried leaving a comment from my blogger account, and it said it couldn’t access account. So blogger is lying! Well, or at least stretching the truth. 🙂

BTW, how are you liking blogger beta?

  2. Hmmm…I’ll see if I can find out what the problem is.

Other than that obvious problem I like the beta version so far. On the user end they make it a lot easier to customize your template, and it seems to load faster. Plus I like the “label” feature. Hopefully they’ll work out the kinks though…

  3. Perhaps I was able to post a comment from my blogger account only because I hit “preview” first.

  4. Nope, it worked for me even though I didn’t use the ‘preview’ button.
