After looking at it a bit more it seems the pragmatism/idealism axis refers to a (fairly arbitrary) utilitarian-atheist/deontological-theist dichotomy. But still – Stalin and Hitler?? Who’s more of a utilitarian than someone who would sacrifice 6 million people for the health of the state?
